Postnatal Massage Glasgow

New Mums/parents come to see me for massage and a bit of pampering during the postnatal period - any time during the first year after giving birth.

Postnatal massage is great for recovery & recuperation after birth where there have been no serious complications (unless I have doctor’s written consent), offering space and time for the new Mum to relax and recharge. It can help ease residual pregnancy aches, as well as working on muscular tension due to childcare, holding and feeding.

Taking time for self-care can also help with stress and postpartum mental health when adjusting to change at this time. I love creating a supportive, caring and safe environment whilst getting to the bottom of any physical symptoms too.

I also offer C-Section Scar massage - more info here - which can be incorporated into your postnatal treatment. (Please choose ‘C-Section Scar massage’ when booking if looking for some work on your scar.)

Gentle stretching may be incorporated during your treatment and postnatal exercises can be provided as aftercare.

I offer a Postnatal Package (details below) with the aim to encourage coming to see me more regularly at this demanding time.

When can I come for postnatal massage?

During the first 6-12 weeks postnatally, your massage treatments will be gentler and restorative. Deeper pressure can be given into upper back and shoulders to help with postural tension due to holding and feeding, but only superficial work given into legs and abdomen (see also C-section approach below).

During the later postnatal period it is possible to work more deeply on the muscles that took the strain during pregnancy and childbirth – each client’s recovery will be different and the session tailored to you. This could include working on pelvic girdle muscles/glutes, lower back, deeper work on the abdomen to help restore muscle tone and relieve congestion, C-section scar work once healed, opening up the chest and shoulders, and deeper work can be given to legs at this point too.

After a C-section

Whilst you are healing, we can set-up in a side-lying position and focus on upper body. If looking to lie on your front, please wait until you are healed. Work into legs can only be given 6 weeks post C-section, abdominal & scar work once your scar heals (usually around 8-12 weeks). Work on your scar can help restore feeling in this area whilst helping to reduce scar tissue – I can talk you through simple ways to work your scar at home too.

Available as a 60min or 90min treatment.
